Decent potatoes

What I say is that, if a fellow really likes potatoes, he must be a pretty decent sort of fellow.
-A. A. Milne

Seed potatoes now available -- please order by 31 January

It's time to start thinking of spuds again!  As always, to reduce costs and avoid waste, OOOOBY organic seed potatoes are available on a pre-order/pre-pay basis only.

Changes at Carraig Dulra and OOOOBY for 2012

"Come, gentle Spring!  Ethereal Mildness!  Come."
- James Thomson

New Year ceremonies have always been designed to get rid of the past and to welcome the future. January is named after the Etruscan word janua which means door. The roman god Janus presided over the gateway and was know as the "Lord of Beginings"

We are busy with some positive changes and new beginings at Carraig Dúlra and OOOOBY which we will keep you posted on as the year develops.

Winter Solstice 2011

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.
- Albert Camus

Solstice Celebration - this Saturday (17 Dec) 2:30-5:30

Bring some light into the darkest part of the year together in a family-friendly, completely volunteer-run, abundance celebration.

The 3rd Annual OOOOBY Christmas market supporting local small producers, come and enjoy some local fresh seasonal food & drink. All OOOOBY stock will also be reduced.

Shadow of a Distant Sun

If you can find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere.
-Frank A. Clark

As the days darken and we come to the end of the second year of OOOOBY and the fifth year of Carraig Dúlra, we make ready for hibernation and rest. It's not always been an easy path, but the abundant community connections that continue to develop have made it another great year for all of us involved.

blown away

A wind has blown the rain away and blown
the sky away and all the leaves away,
and the trees stand. I think, I too, have known
autumn too long.

-- e. e. cummings

Fruits of harvest

"...Care less for your harvest than for how it is shared and your life will have meaning and your heart will have peace.”
--Kent Nerburn

GIY meeting today (Saturday)

In case you didn't receive a reminder or aren't on the GIY reminder list, the next GIY meeting is today (Saurday the 15th) from 1-2 PM at the OOOOBY Store in Glenealy.  All are welcome, at any level of gardening experience.

wild-ness

Europe’s largest wild foods harvest market - in Co Wicklow!

Picture yourself wandering down a frosty winter street in a rural, picturesque Irish village, your breath hanging foggily in the air, and your hands warmed by blazing wood-burning braziers and a cup of spiced mulled wine. Imagine the feeling of a unique European Winter-Fest style market here in Ireland. So now, visualise rows of wooden stalls lining both sides of the street, with hundreds of homemade foods on display.

New season, new learning

“Is it all worth it? If we do our best to heal the Earth and make our place in her a sustainable one, is there a good chance that we will succeed?…to my mind that’s the wrong question. Even if we could answer it – and we can never know anything about the future for certain, it would beg the question How do I want to live my life? So my answer to the question..is that I want to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem”.
-- Patrick Whitefield ‘Earth Care Manual’
