Our online shop is always open, but the store in Glenealy is closed during January 2012, see you in February!

At The GIY meeting last week people got seed potatoes, talked about when to plant considering the weather this year, and had a tour of Carraig Dulra given by Suzie. The group is growing and has a wide range of gardening interest and experience.

OOOOBY Store
We still have some organic seed potatoes, onion sets & shallots in stock. We also have a large supply of both seed & potting compost, and seed trays. A selection of organic seeds will be on sale for the first time in the shop from next week, and we are also making arrangements with suppliers of wormeries to be able to offer these as well. The store is open wed-sat 10-3.
TV Viewing: GIY, Carraig Dulra & OOOOBY
Watch Eco-Eye on RTE1, Tuesday 9th March at 7pm, for a piece on GIY Ireland, which was filmed at the launch of GIY Glenealy at the OOOOBY store and up at Carraig Dulra organic farm. The producers (Earth Horizons) have let us know this is scheduled to be broadcast but note that sometimes schedules are changed at the last minute.
WOW (Wicklow & Our World) - Film showing 8 March
The Wicklow Local Transition Group are starting a series of awareness raising events. To kick off, they are showing a series of films and talks based on the themes of local food and sustainability.
The first event is this Monday 8th March, a film called The Age of Stupid. This is the 2008 epic film from director Franny Armstrong, with Oscar-nominated Pete Postlethwaite starring as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?

RTE Looking for Gardeners for Super Garden series

COULD YOU BE A SUPER GARDENER?
Are you passionate about gardening? Is it your ambition to be a garden designer? Do you dream of winning a Gold Medal for your garden design?
‘Super Garden’ is seeking 5 amateur garden designers to compete for the title of ‘Super Gardener’ in the new RTÉ series, to be broadcast in May 2010.
A passion for gardening is a must, as is creative flair, and the ability to design a garden to a budget and deadline.
So if you feel you have what it takes, this is what you need to do!
Email us and tell us briefly why you love garden design, and what your dream design would be. Where possible, please enclose basic plans or drawings.

Only amateur garden designers are eligible to enter this competition.
Filming will take place during the months of March and April 2010, so applicants must be available for filming during this time.
