Store Hours
Our online shop is always open, the store in Glenealy will reopen Saturday 11th February 2012 for POTATO DAY (11am - 2pm)
Lots Happening This Saturday!
This Saturday is this month's meeting of the gardening group, home baking by Kate is back for sale at OOOOBY, we have lots of new gardening items just in for the new season and we're having a tree planting afternoon.
Grow It Yourself (GIY) - Saturday 1-2 pm
The local gardening group GIY group meets again at the OOOOBY Store in Glenealy this Saturday from 1-2pm (and every third Saturday of the month).
Everyone is welcome, no matter what your experience is, and there is no charge. Bring your gardening questions or tips and learn and share with others, from beginners to experts.
Tree Planting - Saturday 2:30 pm (meet at OOOOBY)
We will be planting trees up at Carraig Dúlra organic farm this Saturday, after the GIY Meeting. Everyone is welcome, including families with children.
Please meet at the OOOOBY Store this Saturday 2:30 pm(ish) and we'll carpool up to the farm. This event is free.
If you have sponsored a tree for the farm, thank you and we hope you can come to the tree planting! If you haven't, please consider sponsoring a tree at Carraig Dúlra, which helps support the work we do at the farm, the OOOOBY Store and in the community, and tree sponsorship is a lovely non-commercial gift. You can adopt a tree on our website, over the phone or in person at the OOOOBY Store.
More information about adopting a tree is available on our website http://www.dulra.org/adopt_a_tree, or contact us by email or phone.
New stock of organic Seed Potatoes, Red Onions, Garlic, Seeds and Tools
We've just got a whole new supply of organic seeds (from The Organic Centre and Brown Envelope Seeds), seed potatoes (orla, colleen and sarpo), seed trays, red onion sets, garlic and lots of shiny new tools for your garden or allotment!
Also we have just become agents for PolyDome polytunnels, so if you are looking to get a polytunnel, please contact us - the cost is the same as going direct but this way OOOOBY gets a small commission, which helps support our work.
The Store is open this Saturday 10-3 and every Wednesday through Saturday, also from 10-3. We're often here on a Monday and Tuesday as well, you can always ring ahead if those days suit you better.
Home Bakes and OOOOBY Exchange (Market)
Kate's at the OOOOBY this Saturday from 1-2pm, bringing her own style of home baking to Glenealy.
We always have local organic eggs in stock, and from this Saturday will be selling organic salad bags (grown organically at the OOOOBY Store, so zero food miles!)
A regular OOOOBY Exchange (Market) day is going to launch again soon. Similar to what we had leading up to Christmas, it will be a friendly informal market atmosphere where you can buy and sell local produce, food and craft. You don't need to be a commercial producer, all you need is a few extra veg, herbs, jars of jam or some craft you've done yourself.
Please get in touch asap if you'd like to find out more. Children (with an adult) are also welcome to have a stall, and we've already spoken to several young green thumbs whose produce you may see for sale here soon!
When to plant
Despite the warmer weather, in general, the ground in Ireland hasn't quite warmed up enough to plant your spuds. You can start soon, a good guideline is to watch the weeds. When they start growing, the ground should be warm enough for your potatoes to go in.
The bare rooted tree planting season is almost over, you can probably plant another couple of weeks but bare rooted trees need to be in the ground before their sap starts running, so best to get them in soon! This is only for bare rooted trees, not trees in pots.
