A few places left on 2 new courses

Just a quick note to let people know that we have room on the Leave No Trace Workshop this Monday, and also room for 1 more family on the Family Food Growing course on the 4th of July.

Other upcoming events include the Transition Town Camp and Picnic this weekend and Garden Complete on 17 June.

Finally, we are making progress with the new store and market.  As we would prefer to kit out the shop with as much reused / recycled items as possible, if you hear of any shop shelving or fittings, or market tables offered, please let us know!

Leave No Trace - Monday 15th June

Leave No Trace is an Outdoor Ethics Programme designed to promote and inspire responsible outdoor recreation through education, research, and partnerships.

An ethic can be defined as knowing what the right thing to do is, and doing it, even if there is no one about to see you do it.  Leave No Trace depends more on attitude and awareness than on rules and regulations.

As increasing numbers of people seek the beauty and exhilaration of outdoor recreation, our collective mark on the environment and its natural processes, increases. Litter, disturbance to vegetation, water pollution, wildlife, livestock and other people are all indicators of the need to develop a national ethic that protects both natural and cultural heritage. Techniques designed to minimise the social and environmental impacts to these areas are incorporated into the Leave No Trace Outdoor Ethics Education Programme as seven principles

This one day awareness raising workshop will focus on the seven principles of Leave no Trace Programme. The course will bring participants through a classroom based discussion on the principles and finish with a practical exercise outdoor to implement their learning.  Bring the usual reasonable outdoor / wet gear, warm clothes and decent footwear.

Tea, coffee and organic vegetarian lunch included.
