Opinel knives have been manufactured since 1890 in the town of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in the Savoie region of France. They were invented by Joseph Opinel as a simple working man's or peasant's knife, which proved popular with the local farmers, herdsmen, and paysans-vignerons (peasant winemakers) of the area.
Today, Opinel has about 100 employees making roughly 4 million items per year, exported all over the world.
Please note that we will not sell knives to minors.
