Everyone adds something to Carraig Dúlra and the small community around it, whatever your skills or experience.
Several people and some potential corporate sponsors have asked us if there are particular tangible items that would be useful. So here's a list of capital projects and other items that would be a practical benefit to Carraig Dúlra and the people who come here:
Carraig Dúlra farm
- A purpose built ecologically friendly training/meeting room/classroom building [€100,000]
- Improvements to the farm driveway to make it easier for people in cars or mini buses to access the farm. Also walking paths, ideally wide and smooth enough for wheelchairs [€15,000]
- A beekeeping demonstration and honey processing room, including an area to allow visitors to watch live bee demonstration safely behind glass [€20,000]
- A small native woodland area, to be planted along the farm borders [€12,000]
- Solar photovoltaic / wind turbine energy systems - for demonstrations/training as well as providing energy for safe lighting at night, allow long-term visitors to charge their mobile phones. To feed back to the grid once the farm is on mains electricity
- Drinking water system, including pump, pipes, storage tank, filters & taps
- A wheelbarrow with 2 wheels, ie, the type that can carry heavier, larger loads than a traditional wheelbarrow [approx €300]
- Individual native trees
- Large metal enclosed presses/cabinets, for storing food for courses & volunteers
- Large metal cafetiere(s) for coffee in the kitchen: the glass ones keep on breaking! - RECEIVED, THANK YOU ASHLEIGH!!!
OOOOBY Store
- Display fridge and freezer - so that we can stock and sell local organic meat, ice cream, cheese etc.
- An oven/cooker for use by cooking/recipe groups and stallholders
- Patio heater or similar (for those cold market days and community group meetings held in the glasshouse)
- A cash register/till
- An environmentally sound electric car for moving people and goods between the Store, Shop and for deliveries [€15-20,000]
- High quality signage for both the Store and Farm, on routes leading from the motorway, and along country roads approaching the farm and the store, and also at the entrance [€5,000]
